Diners in Dallas Worth Checking Out!
Keller’s Drive-in
10554 Harry Hines Blvd | Dallas, TX 75220
(214) 357-3572
This is a drive-in frozen in time. Classic cars and leather-decked
bikers on the weekends share space with shiny BMWs and kid-choked
Camrys. And all served by smiling carhops. The food is equally vintage.
A plain burger is $2. The #5-a poppy-seed bun, double cheeseburger,
tomato, lettuce, special sauce and grilled onions-is the most popular
item at $2.48. Trick out your order with tater tots, fries, onion rings and
a milkshake and still pay less than 10 bucks.
Big State Fountain Grill
100 E Irving Blvd, Irving, TX 75060
(214) 307-5000
Small towns are known for their family-owned burger joints, shops
along Main Street and the iconic corner drug store. Irving was no
different during the mid-20th century when Big State Drugs took
over what was once the B&H Dry Goods Store. Many elements of
the original Big State Drug are still intact, including the iconic neon
sign, only now it reads “Big State Fountain.” They also kept a few of
the long-time employees and much of the old menu featuring burgers,
grilled sandwiches and smooth, silky, hand-made milkshakes. You can
still sit at the diner seats, select tunes on a jukebox and shop for 50’s
era candy.
Original Norma’s Café
1123 W. Davis St. Dallas, TX 75208
(214) 946-4711 | www.normascafe.com
It all started in 1956 from a small Texas storefront in the Oak Cliff
neighborhood just outside downtown Dallas along historic US Highway
80. With a menu that reminds you of home and servers who know you
by name, Norma’s Cafe began welcoming hungry guests from across
the Dallas-Forth Worth Metroplex with its Texas comfort food.
